so many layers of That.
ah yes. the day i went for a christmas dinner...
eileen marsh is an old matronly granny in her 80s but still up and about with vigour, quiet but steady fire in her eyes and an eternal serene smile. arriving in canada in 1942 during the war, she settled in kingston with her commodore husband who was instructing at "the military college here" at kingston (i presume it was the RMC) and raised her 3 children in this quaint little city. and in this city she gave herself to Christ.
it was at her extremely homely, comfy and beautifully british-looking house at the junction of West St and King St East that we gathered for a night of delicious and filling Christmas Dinner, great coffee, excellent dessert (yes claudia they are still sinful, but then again thats why they are excellent) and Christmas Carols.
decorated for the occasion
chicken, butter sugared croissants, baked beans with cheese
strong black coffee
and a chair gave way under weirong. poor chair no i mean poor weirong. i hope its fine.
he's fine i mean.
he's fine i mean.
and we were introduced to the Christmas custom of Advent. 5 candles (3 purple 1 pink and 1 white), symbolising Hope, Peace, Love, Joy and Christ, are lit in remembrance and celebration of Jesus' first coming at Christmas, and in preparation for His second coming to the earth.
full array of bone china tea cups and saucers
and we monopolized the stairs, the group of hongkong and singapore students, and sang Christmas carols to the music played at the piano together with the 50 other guests.
authentic and memorable canadian christmas experience indeed.
